Terms of Service
Last updated: 12 October 2026
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
Lacuno Cloud ("Lacuno", "we") is operated by Christoph Weiler, sole trader, Sonnberg 57, 4261 Rainbach im Mühlkreis, Austria, mail@chrisweiler.at (Impressum).
These terms apply when you use Lacuno Cloud: the dashboard at app.lacuno.io, the editors, the sites you publish on lacuno.site or your own domains, and the connections your AI apps make to your workspaces. The Lacuno software you can run yourself (Lacuno Community) has its own open source licence; these terms do not apply to it.
"You" means the person who creates the account, or the organisation they act for. If you act for an organisation, you confirm you may bind it. You are a consumer if you use Lacuno mainly for private purposes; some sections treat consumers differently, as the law requires.
2. Your account
You must be at least 16 years old.
Give your real name and an email address you can receive mail at. Keep your password and sign-in methods safe, and tell us at once if someone else got into your account.
A workspace has exactly one owner, who is responsible for it, including for what the members they invite do in it. On Agency and Enterprise the owner can invite members as editors, who change the sites and can connect their own AI apps, or viewers, who only look. Only the owner publishes and manages domains, billing and members. Members use Lacuno with their own account under these terms.
The owner can transfer a workspace to one of its members once its subscription no longer renews. The new owner then takes over the responsibility for it and any future plan, and the previous owner stays on as an editor.
You accept these terms and the Privacy Policy when you sign up. When they change (section 12), we ask you again in the dashboard.
3. The service
Lacuno lets you create workspaces, design sites in the editor, publish them, connect your own domains and let AI apps of your choice work in your workspace.
Beta. Lacuno Cloud is in beta: features can change, and we cannot promise uninterrupted availability. The plans and their limits apply during the beta too. Free publishes your sites on lacuno.site and includes one connected domain per account, shared across all Free workspaces. Published sites on Free display a required Made with Lacuno watermark at the bottom; it cannot be removed on Free. Domain registration is not included. Paid plans remove the watermark and include their own workspace domain allowances (section 4). During the beta, an account's first paid plan may start with a free trial month (section 4).
We back up workspaces every night (see the Privacy Policy, section 7), but keep your own copies of anything important.
4. Plans, prices and payment
Free costs nothing. Personal and Agency are paid per workspace, billed yearly or monthly, at the bandwidth step you choose; on Personal the step also sets how many own domains the workspace has. Enterprise is by individual agreement. Plans, limits and prices are shown on
lacuno.ioand in the dashboard before you buy.If you change to a paid step or plan with fewer own domains, the domains already connected stay served, but you cannot add more while the workspace is at or above the new limit.
Paid plans are sold by Polar. Polar Software, Inc. is the Merchant of Record: when you buy a plan, you buy it from Polar under Polar's terms for buyers. Polar takes the payment (through Stripe), charges VAT where it applies, issues your invoices and handles refunds, chargebacks and, if you are a consumer, your right of withdrawal. We provide the service you bought, under these terms.
Free trial. While we offer it, an account's first paid plan starts with one free month; each account gets one trial. You enter a payment method at Polar's checkout, and nothing is charged during the trial. When it ends, Polar charges the plan's price automatically and the plan renews as below, unless you cancel before the trial ends in Polar's customer portal (Manage billing in the dashboard). If you cancel, the workspace becomes Free when the trial ends, and domains beyond the account’s single Free allowance stop being served 14 days later.
A paid plan renews at the end of each period until you cancel it in Polar's customer portal. When you cancel, the plan stays until the period ends; then the workspace becomes Free, and domains beyond the account’s single Free allowance stop being served after 14 days.
If a payment fails, the workspace keeps its plan while Polar retries, and becomes Free when the retries run out.
We may change prices for future periods. We tell you at least 30 days before the renewal the change applies to, and you can cancel before then.
5. Fair use
We do not switch sites off because of traffic. Plans have limits for bandwidth and storage, and an account may have at most 3 free workspaces.
On Free, Personal and Agency we email you at 80 % and 100 % of the month's bandwidth.
A workspace above its limit two months in a row will be asked to move to a larger plan.
A workspace far above its limit (ten times) can be slowed down, after a warning.
Storage above the limit blocks new uploads, not publishing.
6. Your content
It stays yours. You give us the rights we need to store, back up, publish and deliver your content as you ask us to, for as long as it is on Lacuno. We do not use it for anything else, such as advertising or training AI. You can take it with you at any time (section 9).
You are responsible for it: that you have the rights to what you upload and publish, and that your sites comply with the law, including their own imprint, privacy notice and any consent for cookies or third-party services they use.
Published sites are public. Testing addresses are hidden from search engines but not secret.
Your visitors' data. For the people who visit your sites you are the controller and we process their data on your behalf. A data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is available on request by email to mail@chrisweiler.at.
Your forms. Messages visitors send with your sites' forms are emailed to the workspace's owner and not stored by Lacuno. You are the controller of what your forms collect: ask only for what you need and say so in your site's privacy notice. Each site receives its plan's number of messages a month.
7. Your AI apps
You can connect AI apps such as Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor to a workspace. They act on your behalf with the access you grant: they can read and change the workspace's sites and, if you own the workspace, publish them. Lacuno never calls an AI model itself and sends your content to no AI provider on its own. The AI app's own terms and privacy policy govern what it does with what it reads. You can revoke an app's access at any time, and you are responsible for what your AI apps do in your workspace.
8. Acceptable use
You may not use Lacuno, or let others use your workspace, to:
publish or store anything illegal, including child sexual abuse material, terrorist content, illegal hate speech, and content that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights;
phish, defraud or deceive, including sites that imitate another organisation to collect passwords, payment details or personal data;
spread malware, or host exploit kits, botnet control servers, or cryptocurrency miners that run in visitors' browsers without their knowledge;
send spam or host pages promoted by spam;
attack, probe or overload Lacuno, our providers or anyone else, or get around our limits, isolation or security;
use Lacuno mainly as file storage or a download or video mirror unrelated to your sites;
resell Lacuno Cloud as a hosting service without our written agreement;
harass, threaten or expose anyone, or publish someone's private data without a legal basis;
collect passwords, payment card details or health data through your sites' forms.
9. Reports, suspension and termination
Anyone can report content that is illegal or breaks section 8 at
app.lacuno.io/abuseor by email. How we handle reports is described on our abuse page.Suspension. If a site or workspace breaks the law or these terms, we may stop serving it; visitors then see a notice instead. We email you the reasons, and whether a report led to it, when we do it. Nothing is deleted, and we lift the suspension when the problem is fixed or the decision turns out wrong. You can reply to contest it.
You can end the contract at any time by deleting your account in Settings. If workspaces you own have members, remove them, or transfer or delete those workspaces, first. A paid plan ends at the end of its period (section 4); refunds follow Polar's terms.
We can end the contract with 30 days' notice by email, and for paid plans at the end of the paid period. We can end it at once for a serious or repeated breach of section 8, or where the law requires it.
Taking your sites with you. At any time, the owner of a workspace can export it from its Export page: its sites with their pages, CMS content, files and published releases, as a file that Lacuno Community imports on your own server. A published site can also be downloaded there as static files for any web server. An export can be downloaded for 24 hours.
When the contract ends we delete your workspaces and account as described in the Privacy Policy, section 7. Before that, export your workspaces and download your account data in Settings.
10. Availability and changes
We work to keep Lacuno available and your data safe, but we do not promise uninterrupted service unless an Enterprise agreement says otherwise. We may change the service. If a change takes away something essential you have paid for, you may cancel and get a pro-rata refund for the rest of the paid period.
11. Liability
Consumers. We are liable under Austrian law, fully for intent, gross negligence and personal injury. For slight negligence we are not liable, except for personal injury (§ 6(1) Z 9 KSchG). Your statutory warranty rights are not affected.
Businesses. We are liable only for intent and gross negligence, and without limit only for personal injury. Otherwise our liability is limited to the fees paid for the affected workspace in the 12 months before the damage, and at least €100. We are not liable for lost profits, indirect damage, or data you could have kept with a reasonable backup of your own.
If you use Lacuno as a business and a third party claims against us because of your content or a breach of section 8, you indemnify us against the reasonable costs of that claim.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.
12. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms for good reasons, such as new features, new laws or court decisions. We tell you by email at least 30 days before a change applies and ask you to accept it in the dashboard. If you do not accept, you can delete your account; periods you have already paid for run on under the old terms.
13. Law and courts
Austrian law applies, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in and can go to court there. For businesses, the court with jurisdiction over 4261 Rainbach im Mühlkreis, Austria, has exclusive jurisdiction.
